On the edge of Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), "La Monnaise" is situated in peaceful countryside amongst farms and tiny hamlets, just a few minutes drive from the beautiful village of Nieul sur l'Autize with its lovely old buildings, famous church and tree-lined square.

The two charming properties here have been carefully restored by the resident owner using traditional materials, including beautiful wood and terracotta tiles Each has its own garden, with a shared boules ground to enjoy.

Entrance via stone steps to first floor character living/dining room with corner kitchen. Stairs down to ground floor. Ground floor: Stone cobbled hallway. Double bedroom (glazed door to courtyard). Bedroom with double bed and two single beds.

Bathroom. large garden. Dishwasher and microwave.

"Le Noyer" offers character accommodation with a first floor living room with fireplace and wood burner,

LE FIGUIER
"Le Figuier" is a cosy retreat for two, created from the former bakery, complete with original bread oven and private dining terrace, shaded by a fig tree.

Entrance into character bedroom/sitting room with double bed and settee, featuring bread oven and terracotta floor. Steps down to compact kitchen and dining table. Glazed to terrace. Curtained doorway to bathroom with WC.

Both properties: Electric heating. W/machine. Mini-oven/grill. TV. Cot and H/chair on request. Parking. Garden and dining furniture and sun-lounges. Barbecue. All linen for hire. Bed , chair for baby

Locally the shady waterways of the Marais Poitevin can be leisurely explored by punt, while nearby is an attractive recreational lake with a beach and bar, and in little over an hours drive are the beautiful beaches of the Vendee coast. The historic town of Fontenay-le-Comte , with its superb chateau, is only 15 minutes away, and there are many excellent day trip possibilities.
