    Thanks to its position and the motorway at 5 minutes from the residence, Fontenay Le Comte is unquestionably the best place to visit the area, which is seen as a greensward with a rich historical past and whose charm and authenticity are highly praised.

    Places to discover:
  • Mervent forest and its lake (walks, climbing, sailing, boat hiring): 10 mns from the residence.

  • Chassenon lake and its beach: 15 mns from the residence.
  • The Poitevin marsh or ‘la venise verte’ in French with its water tracks to visit by small boat or on foot.
  • Nieul sur l’Autise cloister.
  • The Abbey of Maillezais and its attractions.

  • Coal mines in Faymoreau: 30 mns from the residence

  • ‘Le Puy au Fou’ and its amusement park where history has an appointment with nature along the journey. At night, do not miss the greatest night show in the world called ‘la Cinéscénie’ which relates the local history from the Middle Ages to the Twentieth Century!: 45 mns from the residence
  • La Rochelle and its port, an attractive city famous for its shops, architecture, gigantic aquarium.
  • La Faute-sur-Mer beaches and the Bay of l’Aiguillon-sur-Mer.

  • The Futuroscope Park: 1 hour from the residence

  • Inside Fontenay Le Comte, you can visit its museum, Terre-Neuve castle, its old district in the Renaissance style and you can choose to practise a sport such as tennis, swimming or horse-riding.
