The best way to experience the Marais Poitevin is to take a trip by the local flat bottomed boat « barque » or « plate » to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere so that you are aware only of the special charms of the Marais Poitevin :
a feeling of really being at the heart of unspoiled countryside.

You will find a friendly and warm welcome on this public site under the shade of the weeping willows, where you could have a walk or picnic.

You will find all the facilities needed for a nice stay: toilets, drinks, ice cream, and others types of snacks. .

In the company of a guide

You will find yourself lulled by the gentle rocking of the boat as your boatman guides you through a maze of tiny canals. He will relate to you the stories of the Marais Poitevin and you will discover magical places which can only be reached by boat. During your tour, the guide will make you aware of local animal life, flora, customs and traditions.

… or without a guide
You can equally well take your boat trip without a guide/boatman and find your way under canopies of tumbling greenery through a maze of tiny shady canals, you will appreciate the stillness and tranquility of this typical unspoiled Marais Poitevin countryside. The different circuits are clearly signposted if you do decide to go without a guide. You will find pictograms located on the circuits depainting local flora and fauna
(frog, heron, and iris)

There will be someone on hand to advise you about the boat trips from May to September, but out of season, you need to telephone first. It's advisable to book in May, June and September. Call us at the number belong or have a look on our web site.
