| Our home is ideally situated in the heart of the Vendée countryside, on the edge of the Mervent forest and the Poitevin marshes (not far from the "Venise Verte" Green Venice, easy flat walks alongside the canals). Foussais Payré is classed as a "Petite Cité de Caractére" Little town of character - with its 11/12th century church, and the house where François Laurent was born, and the Priory. You will no doubt appreciate being here for the "Nuits Musicales en Vendée Romane" the musical evenings in Roman Vendée - 6 concerts during July and August. In the area, you can visit the Abbeys at Nieul sur l'Autize and Maillezais, the church and architecture at Vouvant. Only 50 kms away, the Puy du Fou chateau and La Rochelle. |
